On Board HMS Vanguard, with the Ship's Company., Vanguard, the very last Battleship to be built in the history of the world. Sea ready way too late for combat operations in WWII. She is with the entire family on a trip to South Africa in 1947. In 1953 she participated in the new Queen, Elizabeth II's Coronation Review. -

Got this book a while back, has anyone else read it? Seems decent to me, shows the different variations of the helmet. I found it nice to know a bit more about them, now I kinda want to get one or two. -

Question Were members of those Elite and we guess heavily indoctrinated NVA Garde Regiments invited or otherwise permitted to transfer into the Bundeswehr back then 1990? To wit, those from the Felix Dzerzhinsky, Hugo Eberlein, Friedrich Engels Regiments. -

Edelweisse is correct, the collar tabs are for Grenztruppen officers. -

The grip is reminiscent of a US eagle head sword but I'm not aware of the US using a lion head pommel although lion heads were used extensively in Europe. The scabbard looks navy with the rope bands and the drag at the end looks Japanese or Chinese. Could just be a mish mash of parts. Lance
