Welcome aboard.     Your helmet is very nice as a first piece.  The first item you got seems to hold a special place in most collections.  I know I still have the first item that I got which was a Luftwaffe breast eagle from a neighbor some 60 years ago.  

The characters are ① "光満三七二" and ② "五三".   I don't understand part of the meaning of ①. It might be the "光" unit(=IJA Fourth Army) at "満州"(=Manchuria). "三七二" means number 372.   ② "五三" means number 53.   I'm not sure about the unit, but I hope this helps.

Yes, also the coast artillery modified their uniforms making it the m/42-58. As KA5 was established in 1953, your jacket would be correct for the period 1953-1958. It is also possible that it was used for some time after 1958 before being replaced by new m/58 or modified m/42-58. It could also have been long time stored and used in case of mobilisation of wartime units.   When I did my service in 89-90 we were issued m/58 and m/59. But during the final exercise other guys who were called in to do repetition exercise used the modified m/39-58. So older types of uniforms were stored for readiness purposes.

Hello everyone,   I’m fairly new to collecting German WW2 militaria and currently building up my collection piece by piece. I’m from Sweden and have been exploring this website for a few weeks now. I'm glad to have found this forum and to learn from others who share the same interest. Great tips and knowledge on here!   My very first piece was the helmet which was found near Leningrad, after that I've added items here and there but recently my interest has flared up again.    I'm leaving you with some photos of part of the collection.    Cheers!
