Hey everyone! I got this at an estate sale and was wondering if this is real or fake? Not sure if they made production fake medals of this type at all. But figured I’d reach out to be sure. Thank you. -

I saw this insignia recently. Would the red insignia indicate medical or is this not a common practice? Thanks! -

Nice Grenzer grouping and display... particularly with the piece of the wall. -

These helmets were hard to get before the fall of the wall. Then cargo containers of them became redundant and available. You were in the right place at the right time. -

It all depended upon the type of duty and/or the nature of the troop. A career Policeman performing regular police duties within the Reich would wear the Tshako with the standard uniform consisting of a green uniform with brown collar and cuffs. The same Policeman assigned to active service in urban warfare in the east would wear the Army (Heer) style uniform in all Police green cloth and a soft cap of a Schiffchen or an Einheitsmutze (Bergmutze or M-43) along with a steel helmet. So, generally speaking all this headgear was worn throughout the war. I hope this is helpful. -

I got this ushanka when I was stationed in West Berlin, 1988-1990. It's hard to read the interior label, but it says "NVA 56 1856 1969" -

Been pulling some of my stuff out of 30 years of storage. I collected these Grenztruppen der DDR items when I was stationed in West Berlin, 1988-1990. I have a few more things I'll post in other sections. -

I have seen the four service career badges (Dienstlaufbahnabzeichen) (service dog handler, diver, pioneer, and weapons technical service) shown in the attachment in a few official DDR uniform publications. However, I cannot find where it is written: · What color and make the fabric (aka wool, polyester, etc.) is? There is a similar patch (Diensthunde-fuhrer) in the NVA, but is it the same patch or a different background color? · Where it is worn on the uniform jacket. I am assuming the sleeve between the shoulder and elbow but where exactly? · Also, are there any photographs of these patches on uniforms? I have looked at numerous Grenztruppen related websites and while I have seen plenty of uniforms/configurations, I have not seen any with these patches in use. Thanks... -

I don't have a way to scan it. Thanks for trying though. It looks like "von". -
