The Luftwaffe pilot/observer badge in the photos came in a grouping and I suspect it to be a reproduction piece but wanted to have others with more experience weigh in. The reasons for my suspicion are the block type hinge which I don’t believe this maker used. Also the makers mark doesn’t seem quite exact as other examples I have viewed in pictures. For example the “L” in Berlin doesn’t use the same arrow shaped letter as I see in pictures. These are a few of the reasons for my suspicion. -

John "Paddy" Hemingway, an Irishman, has died at the age of 105 according to an announcement by the RAF.. He was regarded as the last living member of those RAF fighter pilots who flew and fought in the Battle of Britain. He had an outstanding career surviving 4 shootdowns during the War. He retired from the RAF in 1969. A link to an informative article in the NY Times on his life can be found here: John “Paddy” Hemingway, Last Surviving Pilot of the Battle of Britain, Dies at 105 - The New York Times Regards, Charlie -

I am hoping the markings will be a clue to another more knowledgeable collector. These are very supple leather and nicely made. They have belt loops at their cuffs, and built in suspenders at the waist. The lining is a coarse weave cloth. They were picked up by a Captain in the 45th Division, and came out of his estate. I wonder if he got them at an military airfield in Italy. Tanker's pants was just a guess, I think they are too nice to be tanker gear. -

I will send it over once the card arrives. The company already removed it from their website.
