hello, without knowing what is written on it, I would say $400 is a retail price. Now if says something related to a specific unit that can maybe be traced back to something then it could be worth a lot more. If you like it and do not have one, I would say maybe offer $350. But you won't be 'taking a bath' on it at $400. Sorry if this does not help. -

For that price, I would have taken the risk too- We see a lot of these types in older collections. I think they are from the early 1980's but no idea who was selling them or if they came from somewhere in Germany or Austria the big "tell" for me is the copious amounts of backing thread they have on them compared to the originals. -
