hello, without knowing what is written on it, I would say $400 is a retail price.  Now if says something related to a specific unit that can maybe be traced back to something then it could be worth a lot more.  If you like it and do not have one, I would say maybe offer $350.  But you won't be 'taking a bath' on it at $400.  Sorry if this does not help.

Don I ran it thru a Translation app & got this:   "In memory of lieutenant Siegfried Friedrich Ullmann from ???, fallen on July, 4th 1944 in Italy. Buried on July, 6th, 1944 in ??? ...from Germany...   ... in Italy...   ... buried here ...    

For that price, I would have taken the risk too-   We see a lot of these types in older collections. I think they are from the early 1980's but no idea who was selling them or if they came from somewhere in Germany or Austria the big "tell" for me is the copious amounts of backing thread they have on them compared to the originals.

Nice headgear! In all Pacific documentaries I see Japanese wearing the cap you are displaying instead of the M90 helmet. Are the documentaries showing an accurate picture?
